White Button-Down Shirt Three Ways

I think we all have a white button down shirt in our closets for some reason or other.  Whether you’re a professional, have to wear a uniform to school or just purchased one to wear under a blazer or a sweater; a white button-down shirt is a closet staple.  So I’m going to show you a how to reinvent that white button-down shirt three ways!

While I was out perusing the mall the other day for white button-down shirts, I saw many different styles and cuts!  There is a lot of options out there.  Some options are Bell Sleeve, stand up collars, crop, and boyfriend just to name a few.  I went with a standard, fitted cut for three different looks!

White Button-Down Shirt Look 1:

Dress up a pair of Boyfriend Jeans with a White Button-Down Shirt and Velvet Booties! Easy peasy and effortless!

White Button-Down Shirt Look 2:

Give Versatility to a LBD by slipping a White Button-Down shirt underneath it.  It also adds more coverage and can take a more summer LBD into Fall.

White Button-Down Shirt Look 3:

Make a Slip Dress look more “Buttoned Up” by adding a White Button-Down Shirt.

How to Wear a Pleated Midi Skirt

With Fall creeping around the corner, you’re probably itching to buy new Fall pieces! One piece that you must get into your closet ASAP is a Pleated Midi Skirt. This staple piece can be worn multiple ways and can go from casual to glam with the change of a top, shoes and accessories.  So I’m going to show you how to wear a Pleated Midi Skirt from Day to Night!

I found this Blue Metallic Pleated Midi Skirt during the #NSale (Nordstrom Sale) and immediately fell in love.  One because I love BLUE and two because I love the style and cut of the pleated Midi.  A Pleated Midi Skirt has a very classic silhouette and is no longer considered appropriate just for workwear! A Pleated Midi Skirt can be rocked with sneakers and a tee!

  • How to Wear a Pleated Midi Skirt for a Day Look!

You may look at this and go “No Way, not me” but it is easy to rock this Pleated Midi Skirt with a t-shirt and your favorite sneakers!  I found this awesome Journey Band Tee and had to have it to add to my band tee collection! This tee will be perfect this Fall and Winter under a cozy cardi or Blazer.  If a band tee is too hardcore, a basic tee will work just as well.  As the temps start to drop in the Fall and winter, I will add a cozy sweater cardigan with a tee or a sweater and booties!

  • How to Wear a Pleated Midi Skirt for a Night Look

I LOVE the dressy feel of this Pleated Midi Skirt! It’s so elegant with heels.  I picked this simple swing shell top in cream because this skirt is such a statement on it’s own!  This skirt would also look amazing with a crop sweater, a button-up top tucked in or an off the shoulder top!  I’m sure I will be posting looks in this skirt alot, so I apologize in advance!

How to Transition a Maxi Dress from Summer into Fall

Summer is fading away and it’s time for Transition Fashion! If you have a maxi dress or maxi dresses that you are wanting to get as much wear of as possible, I’m here to show you how to transition a maxi dress from Summer into Fall.  It’s so easy and definitely affordable!

I purchased this black and white stripe maxi from Stash Tulsa this past April and I got a ton of wear out of it over the summer.  It is so comfortable and breathable.  Perfect to beat the heat in when it’s hotter than Hades out!  But I wanted to carry this dress into Fall and it’s so easy because of the black and white stripe print as well as the style of the dress!

It’s still pretty toasty out here in T-Town and will be until October.  I have this silly mental thing that I can’t wear “summery”colors and looks once Mid-August passes (unless I’m going to the beach) and I even start wearing booties and closed toe shoes more.  Maybe I’m secretly hoping that if I start wearing “Fallish” clothes that Fall will hurry up and get here.  Yes, I am weird.  Anywho, the easiest way to get a Transition look is I added this Utility Vest and some cut out Booties. Easy Peasy.  I can look Transition without sweating to death.

When the weather starts to cool down, adding a Sweater Cardigan is the easiest way to get as much wear out of this maxi as possible.  I opted for Dark Green and Maroon Cardigans (see above) to get a Fall feel.  And these slip-on shoes give it a very casual and fun vibe! Another great way to cozy this look up would be with a fun beanie! I’ll definitely be warm (especially with a Chai Tea Latte in my hand!).

So there you have it, the easiest and most frugal way to transition your Maxi Dress into Fall! You’re Welcome.

How to wear a Tie Dye Dress 3 Ways

Tie Dye never goes out of style!  And I’m so glad because I always have two or three Tie Dye pieces in my closet at all times! Tie Dye is a fashion flashback and an on-trend look for current times.  Easy and effortless, just throw on sandals and a Tie Dye Dress is a statement on it’s own.  I just got this amazing “Pepper” Tie Dye Dress from Gray Monroe  and I came up with how to wear a Tie Dye Dress 3 Ways!

First and Foremost, a Summer Look

A Tie Dye Dress screams summer, beach, sun and fun! I added this wide-brimmed Fedora hat and these Platform Espadrilles for a more put together look. But, this dress would be just as perfect with sandals or Birkenstocks. ***I tied up this dress on the side because it hits me right below my knees, making me appear like a squaty toad. Definitely no the dresses fault but I’m shorty.

Secondly, if all else fails, add Sneaks

I just love the way Sneaks (Tennis Shoes) look with a dress!  The look is so hot right now and really trendy! Another trendy item, you guessed it, the backpack purse.  Talk about throwback to my hay day in the 90’s. Except now the styles are cuter and there are more options like this Rose Gold Backpack (which is a perfect dup of the Rebecca Minkoff “Julian” Backpack!)

Third, you always need a Fall look

It’s hard to think about Fall looks when it’s blazing hot as Hades outside and you’re literally melting while taking this picture but I like functional fashion and like I’ve preached in many posts before, when I buy pieces I always like to think ahead and work items into the next season’s looks.  I think I told you that I want completely nuts during the #nsale and took the opportunity to pair one of the long cardigans I purchased with this adorable “Pepper” Tie Dye Dress from Gray Monroe and added booties and a bandana for a more cozy “ready for Fall” look!

I’d love to hear how you would style this Tie Dye Dress! Please drop me a line and let me know!

Floral Jumpsuit

I just heart Jumpsuits…they are like a dress but better!  Just the thought of your top and pants in one cool combo.  Takes the guess work out of picking out a top and bottoms.  This adorable floral jumpsuit from Gray Monroe is perfect for Spring, Summer and into Fall even!

When I first saw this, it immediately screamed Boho to me.  But that’s just me.  You might be envisioning a whole different vibe.  This Floral Jumpsuit is very versatile.  It can be very casual with a pair of flip flops or some Birkenstocks, it can be “casual fun” as I’m wearing it here or it can be dressy with a clutch and fun block heel sandals. In the Fall, you can add a long cozy cardigan and pair of Mary Jane heels and you’re set!

My NSale picks

Last Thursday kicked off early access for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2017.  And believe me, I loaded up! So, I wanted to share with you some of my NSale picks!

I’m sure you might be tired of seeing a bunch of Bloggers post about the NSale.  But the great thing about everyone posting is that it shows you all of the many items that are included in the NSale!  Everyone has different tastes and styles so it’s a win win!

I saw (and wanted) so many different things from the NSale but as you know, I am frugal so I like to purchase really great priced items.  This makes my picks a tad different from the higher-end sale items.  Don’t get me wrong, the higher-end items are really priced great in the sale, but I want more bang for my buck. I mean getting a great sweater for less than $36 makes me giddy!  So without further adue…I give you My NSale picks!

Don’t forget…early access ends on July 20th at Midnight, refer back to my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Post for Sale details!

Palm Print Top

The good thing about Fashion is it gives you a good excuse to get creative! Now days, just about anything goes, it all depends on your style.  I love mixing things up and stepping out of my comfort zone to create new and fun looks! This palm print top paired with a yellow pencil skirt was definitely stepping out. This bold combo, along with the leopard print clutch, is fun, classy and exciting!

I found this casual Palm Print Top at Old Navy (it’s currently on sale for $15!) and I knew it had so much potential than just to be worn with denim shorts (which don’t get me wrong, it would look so cute with denim shorts).  I just kept thinking “Yellow” (Wait, that song “Yellow” just popped in my head 🙂 ) and I searched high and low for yellow shorts and just couldn’t find the right ones for the look that was in my head until I came upon this Yellow Scuba Pencil Skirt from Asos! WInner winner chicken dinner!  The exact match I was looking for!

4th of July Outfit

Hey Hey Loves!  Can you believe the 4th of July is on Tuesday? I mean what the what has happened to summer?  It’s flying by like a bottle rocket! 4th of July right is around the corner and you might be wondering what to wear during your star-spangled festivities? Hopefully one of these 3 looks will give you some 4th of July Outfit Inspo.

4th of July Outfit 1

This look really took me back to highschool with the Bodysuit!  I finally broke down and took the Bodysuit plunge, again, only it’s 24 years later.   However, I was quickly reminded why I quit wearing these contraptions back then…can you say snap crotch? YIKES! Fashion is pain people.  I just couldn’t walk away from this Blue & White Striped Bodysuit from Forever 21!  The White Destroyed Denim Shorts from Express (which are on sale for $29.94…WOW!) are a perfect match and the red bandana in your hair makes it “4th of July Festive”!

4th of July Outfit 2

I found this awesome Blue & White Stripped Strapey Maxi Dress at a local boutique (that I heart heart heart) here in Tulsa, Stash. You need to check them out!  They have clothing, gifts and the most ADORBS baby items (check them out on FB and IG).  This maxi will definitely carry me from Summer into Fall by adding a long cardi and booties.  And at only $36 why wouldn’t you?  A red bandana around your head like Axel Rose might not be your thing but it definitely works for me to make this a perfect 4th of July Outfit!  Change this look up by adding the bandana around your neck or tie it around your wrist.

4th of July Outfit 3

You can’t go wrong with red and white gingham or picnic plaid for a 4th of July Outfit!  This ADORABLE Gingham Off the Shoulder Top from Stash screams summer, fireworks and cuteness overload.  These denim cut offs are “Vintage American Eagle”.  Vintage as in I’ve had them for 6 years and revamped them with new distress, slits and holes.  I basically gave these cut-off’s a face-lift to make them fresh.  I’m obsessed with these Adalyn Espadrille from March Fisher but found a duplicate shoe from Steve Madden for a fraction of the cost (insert a high-five here!).

Oh, in case you were digging these Quay Sunnies from Modern Mess Boutique…you’re right on track.  The Sporty Cat Eye and Acetate Frame covers 2 of the hottest trends in Sunnies for 2017! These are a perfect way to up your Sunnie Game.

Happy 4th of July to your and yours!

DIY Fringe Hem Jeans

Hi Loves! How was everyone’s Memorial Day weekend? How about weekend hangover? Yup, the struggle is real my friends. With the Memorial Day weekend passed, Summer is in full swing and although the temps are steadily risinig, some of us still like to wear cute summer jeans.  I am sure you have noticed the “Fringe Hem” jeans/denim look…it is all over the web and has that beachy, “feet in the sand” vibe going on!  Such a fun look!  So, I had a lightbulb moment  (happens from time to time…hold your laughter please).  Instead of paying lofty prices for a pair of jeans that I may not wear into the next year, how about make a pair of my own? DING DING DING!  I did some research and of all the tutorials out there and through some trial and error of my own, I came up with the best, most easy way of making Fringe Hem Jeans and I am going to share with you how to do it!

First and foremost, you need a pair of jeans that you don’t care about cutting up. Check.  Then you need scissors, either a hem puller or a pair of tweezers. Check.

Start by cutting off the jeans to a length that you want them at.  I started off at the ankle.  Be sure to cut “safely” at first, meaning cut longer than you actually might want them to.  You can always go shorter if you don’t like the length.  Try them on and see if that is a good length for you.

Secondly, start cutting vertical strips (like a chami mop looks) to a length you want your frayed fringe to be.  The longer the strips, the longer you frayed fringe will be.  If you want to use a pencil or chalk to measure exactly across (horizontally) to where you want the strip to end, you can but I just “eyed” it.  And excuse my nasty looking nails…my Shelac had just came off.

Next, you’re going to take either a seam ripper or your tweezers.  I used both cuz I got bored and switched back and forth…hello…ADD! You’re going to pull the cross (horizontal) threads out that keeps the denim together. As you pull them out, the denim will be frayed!

Try on the jeans and make sure it’s all even and the length you want them to be and WaLa! You have yourself a Fringe Hem look! I will be doing this with shorts too!
